With our spectro-photometer we can analyse samples of historic paints and colour match our own paints to achieve highly faithful restorations for historic properties and artefacts. We can offer both bespoke hand made paints, and premixed paints from reputable manufacturers, to meet each project's unique requirements. We believe our homes can be places of great beauty in which we express our individuality and heritage through colour and decoration.
Over the years we have researched and experimented with hundreds of recipes for traditional paints and finishing materials. Understanding and experiencing how these were made and used helps us to stabilise, conserve and recreate painted surfaces of all kinds. We are equally able to work on site with large scale architectural decoration and with smaller items such as furniture in our studio-laboratory here in Somerset.
Architectural paint analysis can be of particular value in the restoration of heritage properties. It can reveal vital information regarding not only the decorative history of a property, but also the nature and stability of the surfaces to which they were applied. This can be of great help in safely restoring a home to its past splendour. Material analysis, diligent detective work and archival investigations can combine to provide astonishing insights and into the lives of our heritage properties.
